A little more than 100 m from the armoured train, in front of the provincial committee of the PCC since 17 November 1998 stands a unique statue of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. It was made by the sculptor Casto Solano Marroyo, a life-size bronze statue. This piece has great singularity not only for representing one of the greatest men of Cuba and America, but also for the quantity of additional elements to the human figure that the author placed wanting to demonstrate his interpretation of the qualities and actions of the guerrilla fighter.
For Cubans and especially for the people of Villaclare and Santa Clara, "Che" represents something very significant, suffice it to say that Santa Clara is also popularly known as the city of "Che". To have in custody this work of art is a privilege; also eternal gratitude to the sculptor who did not receive any commission for its creation and who donated his work with the sole objective of contributing to the formation of the new man.
Only by visiting this interesting site will you be able to interpret the artistic and symbolic level of the sculpture.
