Pope Juan Pablo II visited Cuba between 21 and 25 January 1998. Here he held his first mass on the morning of the 22nd in front of 150,000 people from the central region of the country. For the occasion, a hut made of wood and palm leaves was built, duly decorated, where the Holy Father officiated the religious ceremony with an excellent participation of the attendants.

In honour of this important event, a monument was erected with a bronze statue of "San Juan Pablo II". In remembrance of this memorable date, a rosary is held every 22nd of every month at the same spot where the Supreme Pontiff was the protagonist of one of the most important events in the recent history of our city.

By visiting this sacred site, you can witness its spirituality and beauty.
